Featured on Bon Appétit!

I’m on the Bon Appétit homepage!

I am featured in an article titled, New Orleans: A Love Story. I was contacted by the magazine a few months ago when they were searching for a local food writer with the inside scoop. I was asked to answer a very long list of questions about where to get the best po boys/ beignets/ cocktails/ etc… Unfortunately, of the 20 or so questions I answered they only printed one of my answers! Instead of including the restaurants that I recommended they stuffed the article with cliches about Commander’s Palace and the Ya-Ka-Mein Lady.

I am still very grateful for the opportunity and ecstatic that my face is on the homepage of such a fabulous site (kissing a crawfish of course), but I’m bummed I didn’t get to promote all my favorite spots.

The good news is I now have a ton of  unpublished material and pics that I can publish for all of you lovely readers!

Stay tuned for some tantalizing food porn.

Crawfish Boil

The World's Largest Crawfish Boil was a huge success! Zatarain's broke 2 records in just 2 hours after selling out 29,000 pounds of crawfish to over 8,000 people.
According to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, the event broke the record for the largest attendance, and the largest amount of crawfish boiled at a crawfish boil in a single day.  More importantly, the event raised $40,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank!
Though the crawfish didn't last as long as planned, it was a really amazing event - with free live music and  a ton of beer for sale!
Hopefully the success of the event will encourage more organizations and companies to throw similar city-wide crawfish boils!
I had a wonderful time eatin' crawfish, drink in' beer and showing off my fabulous crawfish shoes!
How cute are those?

World's Largest Crawfish Boil

Zatarain’s  is celebrating their 125th birthday by throwing the biggest crawfish boil that New Orleans (and the world) has ever seen - and everyone is invited! I'll be there elbow deep in crawfish groovin' to the jams by Flow Tribe and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Y'all should come too! Admission is free - and it's only $3 for three pounds of crawfish - that's just $1 per pound!!!! Plus, all the proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 10th from 12-6 at Champion Square
Hope to see y'all there!

From BBQ to Braai

I'm super excited to attend "From BBQ to Braai," one of the tastiest charitable events I have ever been invited to. The event will feature traditional South African BBQ alongside an exceptional collection of South Africa's finest wines. Tickets are just $20 for unlimited food and wine and ALL proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity.

The event is the first stop on the "From BBQ to Braai" tour which sets out to promote a better understanding of South African culture through wine, food, and music. The tour is sponsored by Wines of South Africa, the international marketing body of the South African wine industry.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 22nd, from 2pm-5pm at the Falstaff Beer Garden. Buy your tickets HERE!
